Our story
A bungalow with a back story.
We bought this hillside in Fa'Anui in 2017, on a trip that was supposed to be a vacation and turned into something else. The land was wild, the view was unreal, and we kept saying what if. So we said yes.
We spent the next several years building Maeva Hoa, mostly with our own hands and the help of an extraordinary local crew. Hardwood floors, custom carvings, three Smart TVs, a kitchen we'd actually want to cook in. Every detail we could think of for the people who would stay here — friends, family, and the guests who feel like both by the time they leave.
Maeva Hoa means "welcome, friend" in Tahitian. We chose the name because it captures what we want every guest to feel: not like you've checked into a property, but like you've been handed the keys to a home.
The bungalow has been on VRBO for years. We've hosted families, honeymooners, work-from-paradise types, and people celebrating birthdays we'll never forget. The reviews mean a lot — but the messages we get afterward, the couples who book again two years later — those mean more.
If you book direct from this site, you're booking from us. Not a property manager, not a platform. Just Pat and Heather, the family who loves this place and wants you to love it too.
